I know I ought to make an April Fool's post today, but I've been working such long hours for rushed, unpredictable freelance assignments that I haven't had time to think one up. That should change soon, however, because I've finally found a long-term job with consistent, predictable hours! And even though I live in the middle of nowhere, it's not even a long commute. I will be working as a technical writer on Beale Air Force Base, writing the manuals that are used to train military personnel in using various weapons. I know I should feel bad about the fact that if I do a good job, I will be enabling the U.S. military to mass murder the "collateral damage" in Middle Eastern countries all the more effectively, but I've been out of a job so long that I'm ready to try anything. So I asked myself which employer can be most consistently relied on to always be hiring, and the answer was obvious: the U.S. military. So I joined the Air Force.

And if you're thinking it could be a problem for me that the "don't ask, don't tell" policy hasn't actually been repealed yet, then you're obviously confused - because remember, I converted back to heterosexuality on April 1, 2007. I did relapse somewhat when I met Susan, but then I dumped her on April 1, 2008 like the good Jehovah's Witness that I am. And of course the lifestyle I took up on April 1, 2009, should not pose any problem at all, since it is entirely heterosexual.
